Wallpapering

October 17th, 2011

Contrary to the picture, I am really picky about colors. As such, I make a lot of my own wallpapers. (Please do check out the modern wallpapers I created!)

While checking out an icon site I discovered this very nifty link – The Japonizer. Pick a pattern, pick your colors, and voila! You can download a pattern that can be used to make your customized wallpaper. The above was an art deco pattern done in black and white. (I unintentionally put it up upside down on a box for the picture – Yikes!)

A sidenote: I say a great big “NO” to “Yes” glue. This glue is often recommended to use when putting up wallpaper. It may work really well for some folks, but for me in humid summer Virginia the glue took way too long to dry and left unsightly brown spots on my paper. I am sticking to plain old thinned tacky glue – thanks!

Halloween 2011 – Quarter Scale

October 10th, 2011

I am the first to admit I can be a little ADD when it comes to miniatures. I truly have enough projects already to keep me busy for years. BUT, I keep coming up with something new to try. In this case, I found myself immersed in a Quarter Scale Theme House.

I added the second floor to add this bedroom furniture. Unfortunately, I didn’t take into account the height of the bed! Yikes!

After seeing my Quarter Scale House, my husband said that Quarter Scale was something I should embrace. We don’t have any more room for any more houses (so HE thinks!). I will confess, working in this scale was fun. And since I need more projects to keep me busy (NOT!), I can see myself doing more teeny tiny minis.

By the way, I think I have finally figured out how to post pictures so that when you click on the photo you get a bigger image to see the detail. Okay, some of the pictures are REALLY big. But, it’s a start?

If you live on the East Coast you may appreciate my husband’s other suggestion. He thought it would be super creepy to populate this Halloween House with Stinkbug Corpses. Eeeewwww!

Halloween House 2011

October 7th, 2011

I am not a big holiday decorator any more, but I couldn’t resist putting together a Halloween House. It is a work in progress and I plan to continue to add to it as the years roll on. More cutey than creepy – here is what I have so far.

The scary black cats might explain the ghost dog.

Happy Halloween!

A New Miniatures Blog!

September 26th, 2011

So here it is! My brand new blog devoted to my mini fun (although I suspect real life will creep in here and there!). I am sincerely hoping that having a blog will keep me working on the numerous projects that keep piling up first in my head and then in my craft room.

I have ever so slowly been putting together a 1959 house inside the East Side Townhouse by Real Good Toys. Here is what I have so far.

The kitchen. I grew up with metal turquoise cabinets and a pink counter top. Here is my interpretation of that kitchen.

And here are the plain and fancy versions of my living room/dining room combo.

Some credits: Kitchen is Houseworks with the semi circular cabinets pulls custom ordered from the Virtual Dollhouse. Fiesta China from Sam Dunlap. (If anyone knows where I can get more of this, please tell me!) Mini Modernistas Sofa and Chair. Librenza, Coffee table, Side table, Patie (minisx2). Dining table kitbashed X-Acto. Dining chairs Modern Standard Chair from Miniatures.Com.

Coming Attractions:

Isn’t this delicious! This will go in the pink and gray apartment in the attic.

A Brand New Blog!

I really wanted to have a blog concentrating on my miniature projects. Here it is!
